well there is two “quotes” that i enjoy in the song ‘aeroplane flies high’ performed by smashing pumpkins (written by billy corgan)… and they are as follows:
1) if i knew where i was going, i’d already be there.
2) i’ve always been afraid to die, but i think i am more afraid to live.
these lyrics can be interpreted many different ways (i assume)… but the way i see it…
the first one means… that my life is my life… that i am currently living my life… and if my life were to be any different, it already would be… i would have already made the changes… i would of already progressed to this ‘new’ place to go.
the second one… well.. umm… just means that i am unable to make the changes in life, that will let life progress. these changes ‘should’ be made… because without them you are not really living… but this ties in with the fact that i dunno where i am going… so i can’t make the changes to ‘be there’…
so is it that i am afraid to make the changes or that i dunno what changes to make? or that i should not be afraid to live… and that i should be where i am going?
it’s a matter of a smile. a smile has so much power it is hard to explain. giving a smile is easy, and getting a smile is simply amazing. i think the whole world should smile.
the act of bumming a smoke is not really that out of place. it’s an act of kindness, when the moocher is sincere in their bumming… meaning they do not bum smokes just to save cash.. but rather bum a smoke since they ran out or usually don’t smoke… i think smokers are just all around more approachable people… they are used to talking to one another… they look after each other… they share a common interest (or addiction)… they understand what it’s like when you can’t find your lighter… i am not saying non-smokers are not nice people, i think anyone that is willing to share something of theirs is a nice person…. like if you go to someone’s house and they offer you a beer… they are nice! but if they offer you water when they have beer… they are not that nice… i think it’s important to share! everyone should share! if everyone shared, then everyone would be able to have something when they need it… it’s a matter of karma! but sharing simply because you want someone to share something with you.. is wrong… (unless it’s a trade of some sort)…. so next time someone is at your house… offer them a beer, a sandwich, or even that t-bone steak you’ve been saving… it will make you feel good and it will allow you to have something in common: being nice.
thoughts? hmmm…. i wonder what i am going to talk about right now… i don’t really have a topic in mind, but rather just a craving to make an entry to my world famous blog. yes, world famous! i can make such a claim because this blog can be accessed anywhere in the world!! that’s right… this blog, or online journal can be read by anyone in the world… of course i am assuming that anyone in the world can have WWW access… which isn’t 100% true.. but ohh well… i want to pretend it is…. so anyways… how about those pen chewers… i am one of them… not really sure why i enjoy chewing on pens… other than the simple fact that they pacify me… and entertain me as well!! ummm…
waiting sucks… while i don’t mind waiting for things that i know i will get, but when you have to wait to find stuff out (when there is a chance that stuff may not go as you want it to)… that sucks… like… if your at a theme park.. and you are waiting in line… sure its not as fun as the ride… but i enjoy waiting in lines like that… you simply deal with it.. and you make the best of it… you start talking to people waiting with you and you accomplish more than just going on the ride… now… if there is bad weather then… this kind of wait turns into a wait for a bar… when you are in line for a bar… its all good if its early.. or if you are waiting with the people you plan to hang out with.. but when you are waiting in line for the bar.. and its long and you are not sure if you’ll get in… this sucks…
so i guess i am just trying to say.. that waiting is kool.. if is as waiting in a queue… but waiting for the luck of the draw… sux!
but wait… isn’t the line at the bar a queue? shit… ok.. i need another example… ahh maybe another day!!
peace.

well.. i decided to go with freebsd on my pc… as the os to help facilitate the backing up of my powerbook… damn i never realized how slow 810 kb/s really is when you are dealing with gigs of shit!! to get around the problem i was having with the special characters that macs HFS+ allows… i simply used smbclient on the freebsd machine and did some mgets from the powerbook… samba automatically replaced the ?’s and the /’s with _’s…..
btw jim lahey is a drunk bastard.
Hey, it’s almost Canada Day again.
There once was a time in my life when this day was the most important day in the year for me.
Way better than my birthday, halloween, and even christmas!!
But, I don’t think canada day has this importance to me anymore.
Not really sure what it is… maybe the fact that people never understood the importance of it to me.. or maybe.. just the fact… that really canada day means nothing…
Sure it’s fucken awesome that we live in canada, a country that allows us to be who we are and reach our goals… but… being ‘flag crazy’ seems just crazy to me now… canada is more than a flag… it’s ‘us’… it’s what we all believe.. and feel.. and participate in… it’s all around us everyday… the flag is just for the rest of the world.. so they can have a emblem that is canadian… we don’t need one… we can be proud of canada without the flag or the maple leaf… or as a matter of fact… beer.. and tim horton’s… relating canada to tim horton’s is just bullshit… fuck some stupid corporation.. who sells crap ass coffee to the 30 million of us everyday… and none of us really like timmies… we just go… kuz its there… its easy… and shit man… its hard to find coffee other than timmies… on campus alone.. there is something like 17 tim hortons… thats nuts!!! why not, ‘joe blow coffee shop’?? why the fuck does it have to be timmies… anyways… tomorrow is canada day… and show your pride tomorrow just as you should everyday!
peace.

Well since the CBC ignored my email, I figured I would ask my Canadian Culture question to my local candidates. I sent it to Bev Shipley (CON), Rose-Marie Ur (LIB), and Kevin Blake (NDP). The first party to reply was the Liberals. However, they did not answer my question, and it wasn’t even Rose-Marie that replied. Here is the email:
“Could you give us your phone number so Rose-Marie can call you?”
I didn’t want an informal answer to be given to me over the phone, so I then replied with:
Hello again,
I would actually prefer a written response,
so I can compare the points one-to-one with the other candidates. Thanks for your understanding.
The NDP still has not replied, maybe Kevin figures he is going to lose anyways, and his time would be better spent doing something other than representing the interests of his potential constituency.
And so, the only person to answer my email was Bev, my conservative candidate. Here is his response.
Joe:
” If elected, what will the Conservative party do to ensure that our national public broadcaster, the CBC, will continue to speak for
Canadians?”Joe, I believe Canada needs to balance the need to promote and protect our unique culture in Canada with the need to support our artists in the reality of a 500 channel universe. A Conservative government will ask the Auditor General to review all granting programs, arm’s-length organizations and Crown corporations to ensure value for money. We are interested in funding artists and strengthening our Canadian identity, not bureaucracies.
The CBC, because it is a public corporation, is good to have because it can provide unbiased opinion, educational, and documentary programs and also allows the promotion of Canadian arts and culture. I believe that this is an important service and we must maintain the Canadian content. As a businessman, I also agree that every corporation needs to be accountable in its spending and business practices so that they meet the requirements under the Auditor General.
Thanks for your inquiry, and I would appreciate your support on June 28.

Subject: Canadian CultureBev:
I just have a quick question to ask you:
—
Realizing that it is important to Canadian?s that our unique culture
and identity is appreciated, shared and continually strengthened.
If elected, what will the Conservative party do to ensure that our
national public broadcaster, the CBC, will continue to speak for
Canadians?
—The strengthening of Canadian culture is very important to me,
and I fear that Canadian culture will largely be ignored if you are
elected. I am not really looking for numbers in your response, but
simply on how you feel and how your party feels regarding the CBC,
and other general culture issues such as Canadian content laws, effects of foreign media ownership, etc.I look forward to your response.
So, is it better to vote for a guy who will listen to my concerns and reply to them? Or simply vote based on my values and ideals? Like everyone says “It doesn’t matter what they say, they are lie anyways!” So…. hmmm… there is still time let’s see if anyone else still replies… but I can’t hide the fact that I am impressed with Bev’s ‘respect’ towards me as a concerned citizen (even though the conservatives will HURT canadian culture more than any other party.
